Anna Branford
Welcome to Creative Kids Tales, Anna Branford.
This month Creative Kids Tales welcomes a special interviewer, my daughter, Charlotte.
When I innocently mentioned who I was thinking of interviewing for CKT, my daughters radar ears went into overdrive. I immediately witnessed a level of excitement usually reserved for someone who had just received a pony or the latest whizz bang hand held electronic device. Needless to say I couldn’t resist.
So after some specially selected questions, I say ‘specially selected’ because there was originally a lot more than what we ended up with (imagine letting a child loose in a candy store). Charlotte put together some questions for her favourite author, Anna Branford. Anna graciously accepted our invitation to be interviewed for Creative Kids Tales, and as they say, the rest is history.
Over to you Charlotte.
Thanks Mum.
I love Anna Branford! I love Violet Mackerel! I love Anna Branford!
My favourite author is Anna Branford. My favourite books are anything written by Anna Branford. But my favourite favourite are the Violet Mackerel books.
A few things about Violet Mackerel:
- She loves to sing.
- Violet’s Mum named her after a flower she was given in hospital.
- She dreams of having a kitten, a grey one. Violet already has lots of names picked out. (I got a kitten for Christmas and called him Zazzy. He’s cute).
- Violet loves school. Some of her favourite things to do at school is writing, paint and tell news.
- She likes little things like kittens, sparrows, buttons and beads. Anything small.
There are lots more exciting things about Violet you should know. Violet has her own website www.violetmackerel.com. It is fun with a capital ‘F’. There are activity sheets you can download with craft ideas or facts about sparrows and ladybirds. Her favourite food is poffertjes (tiny Dutch pancakes). There is a yummy recipe on the website for these too.
Violet wants to be an archaeologist when she grows up and go to Egypt. She plans on digging up ancient ruins and discovering treasures, especially small ones. This sounds like lots of fun.
Neville No-Phone and Sophie's Salon are two other books Anna has written. Since I want to be a hairdresser when I grow up, I just had to read Sophie's Salon. It’s a must read for anyone wanting to pursue this profession.
I found on Ms Branford's website, annabranford.com that not only does she like to write she likes doing craft too, a bit like Violet Mackerel’s family. I liked her little dolls and dragonflies.
Violet and I are both small but we have BIG ideas.
If you are looking for a great book to buy for the little/big girl in your life, I recommend Violet Mackerel. There are five in the series. Visit the Pitch ya book! page for the latest one.
Thank you Ms Branford for writing the Violet Mackerel stories.
I hope you enjoy my interview with this month's Featured Author Anna Branford.
