How did Share Your Story get started?
Share Your Story was founded in 2016 by me after it took ten years to get my first book published because I had no idea what I was doing. It makes me so proud that my private mentor clients have gone on to receive traditional publishing contracts, start their own independent publishing companies, create their own educational programs and followed their passion to start making a living doing what they love.
What are Share Your Story’s goals?
Share Your Story is a profit for purpose publishing consultancy business. We help aspiring authors find a pathway to publication so they can share their story with the world. Every story matters so if there is a will, there is a way.
Who is your intended audience?
We help aspiring authors by providing learning opportunities as well as constructive and comprehensive feedback for all genres of children’s writing, helping them transition from a work in progress to a submission ready manuscript.
What resources do you provide?
By attending workshops with like-minded people, one on one coaching opportunities with award winning authors and honest, constructive manuscript appraisals, creatives joining the Share Your Story tribe can optimise their ability to keep their network fresh and active, strengthen connections and know more about the people who are succeeding in their chosen industry. We have also started an Ask An Author video series for children who are wanting to pursue a creative career.
Ask an Author sounds very exciting. Can you tell us more about it?
Ask an Author is an initiative funded by the Australian Society of Authors and Redland City Council as part of their COVID recovery grant program. It is aimed at children to inspire them to find out more about a creative career, as well as help emerging authors find a platform for promotion. Kids can ask any kind of question (and we mean anything) or general questions about that author’s writing. It has been greatly received and will be transitioning to include authors with book releases on the process of writing, illustrating and promoting a book for kids.
Does Share Your Story run any competitions throughout the year for authors and/or illustrators?
Every year, Share Your Story has a writing competition with successful authors having their work published in an anthology. Our anthologies raise funds and awareness for charity and have been Amazon best sellers and won international book awards. Entries open in January every year and books are launched in November.

Can you share any new initiates that Share Your Story will be launching soon?
All our initiatives are driven by our community so we are constantly changing to suit not only their needs, but the every changing publishing industry. We have been transitioning to online workshops will hold them monthly from 2021. But who knows? That’s the exciting part of what we do.
