From quirky Picture Book stories for youngsters through to humorous middle grade non-sensical tales, Julie Paine loves to make her readers smile.
Writing under the pseudonym of Abbey Lane, in May 2020 she won the NSW State Library Emerging Children’s Author Award for a Picture Book story about Ethel Turner called The Legend of the Duck.
In 2021, Julie was a recipient of the ASA Award Mentorship Program and, is looking forward to her first short story publication in the CBCA NSW, Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds Anthology.
Julie is a member of ASA, Writing NSW, CKT, SCBWI, CBCA and The Duck Pond. In her spare time, Julie enjoys juggling and riding her mint green, retro style, electric bike (not at the same time!). She is a huge fan of Old Tom and can often be found bidding on Leigh Hobbs’s artwork at online charity auctions.
