Kristin Darell is a writing all-rounder. For more than 25 years she shared true stories as a broadcast journalist for the Seven Network and Australian News Channel. More recently Kristin has enjoyed flexing her creative muscles, writing middle-grade fiction. She is also enjoying promoting the importance of children’s literature in her role as Program Manager for the Australian Children’s Laureate Foundation.

Kristin was part of the national winning team for Write a Book in a Day (WABIAD) four years in a row. She went on to publish four co-authored novellas and the middle-grade novel Into Tordon, with 9 other authors. Kristin has also shared short stories and essays on writing in a number of Australian anthologies, including the 2021 CBCA NSW Anthology “New Worlds, Old Worlds, Other Worlds: Stories, Poetry and Plays for Children”.

Whether it is fiction or non-fiction, inspiring children to write alone or by collaborating is her passion. She enjoys running writing workshops for children in schools and inspiring kids to find new ways to share the stories of their time and their world. Kristin is the President of the CBCA NSW Branch Inc Northern Sydney Sub Branch and a member of SCWBI.

Kristin is currently collaborating on a new YA series and writing a middle-grade novel while enjoying life with her partner and two girls and their menagerie of two dogs, a pygmy bearded dragon and a snake!
