Writer/Illustrator Louis Decrevel (pronounced Louie Decra-vel), lives on a farm in the beautiful Inman Valley, South Australia, where he and his wife homeschool their nine hilarious kids.
He is the 2021 Scholarship winner for Writing for Children at the Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin. Illustration clients include Quarto Publishing (London), the Australian Government, the Government of South Australia, Nature Play SA, Squash SA, the City of Onkaparinga, Sanglier Wines, Wood Coffee, and Spinworthy Yoyos.
He has a Master of Visual Art & Design [Illustration] from the University of South Australia. His Master’s thesis, Word and Picture at Play, is about how text and images interact in picture books. He’s also completed WritingPicture Books at AWC and Drawing for Comics at CDW Studios.
His artwork and methods are featured in Whoosh! 250 Ways to Get Motion into Your Drawings, published by B.E.S. (US) and Search (UK). His work is featured in The Style File. He is a member of SCBWI and ASA.
The family’s adventures provide endless inspiration for his stories, poetry, comics and art. He is working on humorous and heartfelt books that explore fatherhood and family life.
