Maria is a primary teacher and passionate about keeping kids reading. She keenly enjoys picture books (PB). One that students see themselves reflected, can relate to, quietly informs, and/or brings joy.
PBs are social books for children to read, create from, perform to. A Picture Book’s job is to start kids off reading. Then, it’s the job of junior, middle, YA and adult writers and illustrators to continue them reading.
Also, Maria loves a good adventure with a dose of adrenaline. She has jumped out of a perfectly good plane. She has white-water rafted down a raging and roaring Tully River. And she has read many a good book where kids’ eyes light up, waiting… .
